Greetings, my fellow Rotary Leaders,

Since last spring we have discussed the future organization of the District.  We announced the creation of Territory Resource Networks to serve multiple purposes:
  • Offer Rotarians willing to take a small step outside of their clubs into the surrounding clubs in their territory an opportunity to work in their Area of Passion (AOP).  These are:
    • Membership
    • Foundation
    • Public Image
    • Service
    • Club Administration
    • Youth Services
  • Create committees in these AOPs under the direction of the Deputy Governors for each of these.  Because many of these are one person committees, filling the Deputy Governor roles has often been difficult.  With the training and experience gained in the TRNs, it should be easier to enlist well qualified Rotarians into these roles.
  • Provide subject matter experts to Assistant Governors who will have TRN members in their territories.  This will give AGs well qualified Rotarians in each AOP who can assist clubs with questions, make presentations and capture and share best practices inside the territory and district.  This will also provide a pool of well qualified talent, that, having worked with the AG, might accept that role when it opens.
  • Create a pool of future District leaders who have gained experience within their territories.
  • Harness the energy and interest of Rotarians by providing them with an avenue to become further involved without committing to what they see as the intimidation of accepting a position as an Assistant Governor or Deputy Governor.

Proud to Serve to Change Lives with you,

Bob Vaughn
