DISTRIBUTION: 24-25 Presidents, Assistant Governors, Deputy Governors, and District Committee Chairs
Another great week visiting clubs! Last week I was in the Lake Territory and visited both Slidell clubs, Mandeville, Covington, and Bogalusa. Our Fireside Chat in Mandeville was almost rained out but ended up being a wonderful evening with clear, cool weather. It was fun getting to know more fellow Rotarians!
Bogalusa inducted two new members at my visit, and Slidell had a new member as well. Hope this membership trend continues throughout the year!
What you need to know this week:

Club Presidents, have you entered your goals for the year? The July 31st deadline for entering your goals into Rotary Club Central is quickly approaching. Make sure you complete this critical step in your Rotary leadership journey this week.
Committee Chairs: The organization of every club is different based on your size and structure. There are, however, a handful of positions every club should strive to fill. These are: President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, and Chairs of Membership, Foundation, and Service. Whenever possible, Chairs of Youth Services, Club Administration, Leadership Development, and Public Image are also vital to ensuring a strong organizational structure to support your club. Be sure to fill as many of these roles as feasible, and don’t forget that filling these positions will score points for your team, so be sure to update them in Clubrunner and submit the points for any easy score!
August—Membership month: August is Membership month. What are you doing to reach out to potential members in your community? To ensure your current members are satisfied with their club experience? Or to start new clubs or membership levels? This would be an ideal month to invite Tom Quinn (Deputy Governor of Membership) at tom@tomquinn.net or someone from his team to speak about the new membership types and club types available to help you expand your footprint in the community. It is also a great time to check out these practical Membership Resources for assessing, growing, or starting new clubs. There are Membership points available for these activities, so grab that Team Playbook and get to work planning some Winning Plays!
Winning Points: Some new points were added this week! These included: Serve a meal at RYLA (FG), attend a RYLA meal/event (EP) and wear your team t-shirt to RYLA event (EP). You have to submit points to earn them! Points can be submitted via this form: Team Rotary Points Submission. Remember there are social media requirements for most entries, so don’t forget to upload your pictures or social media links. We have made one change to make it easier for you: If you have multiple people who attend an event, wear t-shirts, etc., and don’t want to submit multiple entries to account for each person, please send all relevant information to District Admin Meg Noonan, and she will enter these points for you.
Upcoming Club Events: What is your club’s next service project, fundraiser, or really interesting speaker? We want to know! Please email Ashley.mayley.5@gmail.com with the details at least 3 weeks in advance so we can help promote your event to other Rotarians in the district.
Family Fun Day: Family Fun Day will be held on Saturday, August 24th from 11-5 at McCleod State Park in Kiln, MS. The District will provide hamburgers and hot dogs, a live band, and a tent. There is a splash pad, basketball court, and playground for the kiddos as well as a nature trail. The park has an 18-hole disc golf course, and we already have 3 sets of cornhole boards! This is a great opportunity for our Family of Rotary to enjoy a relaxing afternoon together. Assistant Governors, please discuss with your presidents and plan a side dish your territory could contribute to our family meal. I sent a Signup Genius so that we can avoid duplication. Currently we have Bay Pass bringing Baked Beans, Pontchartrain brining Chips/Dips, and Hub brining Corn Salad. AGs and Presidents, talk this up to your club! Encourage participation in this inaugural Rotary District 6840 social event. Let’s set a goal for a minimum of 10 people from each territory to attend the event. Not only will it be fun, but it is also an easy way to score some points for your team!
