I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well. As we closely monitor the developments of Tropical Storm Francine, I want to provide important information regarding its expected impact on our district.
Storm Details:
Tropical Storm Francine is currently moving north through the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
It is anticipated to strengthen into a hurricane before making landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday evening.
Maximum sustained windspeeds are currently at 65 mph, just shy of hurricane status.
The storm’s path is directly aimed at the Louisiana Gulf Coast. Storm surge, flooding rainfall, damaging winds and tornadoes will impact Louisiana and other parts of the Gulf Coast and South.
Action Steps for Clubs:
Safety First: Ensure the safety of your members, families, and communities. Follow evacuation orders if necessary.
Communication: Keep lines of communication open within your club. Check on fellow Rotarians and neighbors.
Community Service: Be ready to assist local authorities and relief agencies as needed.
Post-Storm Recovery: We will coordinate relief efforts and recovery initiatives once the storm passes.
District Disaster Response: Our District Disaster Response Team is on standby to provide support. Once the storm has passed, please contact the district office at 833-840-6840 or contact me at 228-304-0134 and let us know of any resources you may need in your respective communities. In addition to coordinating volunteers to assist clubs, we can pass information along to the appropriate NGOs and others who can address larger needs.
Stay safe, stay informed, and let’s continue to make a positive impact in our communities.
