- August—Membership month: Check out these practical Membership tools on the Membership Resource Buffet! One of the strongest new applications is the Membership Action Plan (MAP) program. To access via Clubrunner, navigate to the Member Area, then to Reports, then Membership Action Plan (MAP). The link will take you from the Clubrunner site to the MAP site, which will help you identify strengths and weaknesses related to membership in your club as well as help you set goals and track progress. I highly encourage every AG and Club leader to check out this new tool and determine how it might benefit your club(s). Other tools on the Resource Buffet will help you assess club culture, better engage members, and further promote member satisfaction and retention. There are also resources to help you understand and implement new membership types and new club models. Let’s use this August memberships month to focus on our club member experiences and how we can make our clubs Simply Irresistible!
- Call for District Governor nominations: The deadline to submit nominations to serve as District 6840 Governor for the term 2027-28 is August 5th. Applicants must have previously served as club president to apply and must have been a Rotarian for at least 7 years at the time they take office in 2027. Applicants should be familiar with the District Policy Manual. To apply, please submit the completed DGND Form and Club Resolution to District Governor Samantha Walley no later than August 9, 2024, by 5:00 p.m. All applicants should be prepared to participate in an interview on Saturday, August 24th at the Kiln Public Library on Highway 603 beginning at 9:00 a.m. If you have any questions, please contact District Governor Samantha Walley at RotarianSam6840@gmail.com.
- Family Fun Day: Family Fun Day will be held on Saturday, August 24th from 11-5 at McCleod State Park in Kiln, MS. The District will provide hamburgers and hot dogs, a live band, and a tent. There is a splash pad, basketball court, and playground for the kiddos as well as a nature trail. The park has an 18-hole disc golf course, and we already have 3 sets of cornhole boards! This is a great opportunity for our Family of Rotary to enjoy a relaxing afternoon together. Assistant Governors, please discuss with your presidents and plan a side dish your territory could contribute to our family meal. I sent a Signup Genius so that we can avoid duplication. Currently we have Bay Pass bringing Baked Beans, Pontchartrain bringing Chips/Dips, Hub bringing Corn Salad, and Orleans bringing dessert. AGs and Presidents, talk this up to your club! Encourage participation in this inaugural Rotary District 6840 social event. Let’s set a goal for a minimum of 10 people from each territory to attend the event. Not only will it be fun, but it is also an easy way to score some points for your team!
- Winning Points: You have to submit points to earn them! Points can be submitted via this form: Team Rotary Points Submission. Remember there are social media requirements for most entries, so don’t forget to upload your pictures or social media links. We have made one change to make it easier for you: If you have multiple people who attend an event, wear t-shirts, etc., and don’t want to submit multiple entries to account for each person, please send all relevant information to District Admin Meg Noonan, and she will enter these points for you.
- Upcoming Club Events: What is your club’s next service project, fundraiser, or really interesting speaker? We want to know! Please email Ashley.mayley.5@gmail.com with the details at least 3 weeks in advance so we can help promote your event to other Rotarians in the district.
