My friend Jack says he can communicate with vegetables. So, Jack and the beans talk.
Do you know how much corn cost on a pirate ship?  A buccaneer!
Do you why they started putting candles on the top of birthday cakes?  Because putting them on the bottom is too messy!

Big HELLO to all my Rotary friends.   This is Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution Month.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all the conflicts in our world would somehow be settled this month?  Maybe that’s a big wish but I’ve seen other miracles happen so maybe we could all wish for this one.

Just a few weeks back our district held its annual Paul Harris Society Gala followed by the Mid-Year Check-Up.  We had 140 Rotarians from around the district in attendance.  That’s a record for 6840!  Congratulations to all club presidents and club members who went out of their way to be there.  You rock!  We were treated to reports from club presidents on current club happenings.  I am so proud of all the great works of charity being done around our district.

We reached that time when, all of you who wait until the last minute, need to register for the DISTRICT CONFERENCE.  The event will be May 2-4th at the Golden Nugget Casino in Biloxi.  We will have a fishing excursion on Thursday morning as well as a seafood cooking demo at Ground Zero Jazz Club.  There will be a welcome event on Thursday night with Alan Mallory present, signing his latest book.  Friday will kick off with a host of speakers on various water topics.  Of course, what would Friday be without the Friday Night Food Fest?  This year we will have a dunking booth with all your favorite Past District Governors and current club presidents just waiting to be dunked.  And we will have the band STELLAR there providing music for all. And, don’t forget our theme, Sea Creatures Come Ashore.  Decorate your table to represent your favorite sea creature.  Prizes to the top three tables.  Saturday will follow with another host of great speakers on various water topics.  We will end our event with a bang at the Saturday Governor’s Banquet.  All club presidents will be presented.  Please be there to root for your club’s president.  Details on all events can be found on the district website.  Don’t wait as registration fees will go up at the end of February.

And, please don’t forget our district fundraiser for HANWASH.  Ryan Rowe, director for HANWASH will be at our banquet.  Please try and get your donations in before the end of April so we can present our check to Ryan at Saturday’s banquet.

It’s a great day to be a Rotarian!
